This talk provides a meaningful and relatable perspective on dyslexia, including how dyslexia might present in children, the brain science behind dyslexia, and how to support a dyslexic child. Dr. Adams will share a neurobiological perspective on dyslexia, including a dyslexia simulation exercise, helping to shed light on the dyslexic reader’s lived experience. Dr. Adams will also discuss valuable support strategies.

Presenter Bio:
Dr. Liz Adams is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist, and owner of Minnesota Neuropsychology, a private practice in St. Paul. She has been practicing neuropsychology for 17 years. Prior to starting her practice, she completed a PhD at Fuller Graduate School in Los Angeles, including clinical training at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute. She completed a 1-year residency in neuropsychology at Rush University Medical Center and a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Adams is passionate about finding new ways to think creatively about neurodiversity, and communicating complex topics in a clear way. Dr. Adams hosts her presentations in a comfortable and approachable manner, and participants walk away with new insights and do-able next steps.
